Is conjunctivitis contagious in cats |
Lead | ||

I rescued a Main Coon/Ragdoll mix from the shelter 2 wks ago. He had a respiratory infection with sneezing and watery eyes. The vet gave me antibiotics. My
other cat now has one eye that has gooey green pus and keeps closing and the other eye is very watery and puffy. Could the the cat from the shelter have given
this to LuLu. She's an indoor cat .

Yes, the upper respiratories are very contagious and many of the eye infections are too. I'd say it's highly likely that Lulu got it that way. It's a bummer, but it's the way it happens with new cats and rescues. Just keep on top of it as you're doing with your new kitty and everything should be fine soon. Maybe your vet might even be able to give you meds for
the old kitty without charging you for a whole visit, if she's been in recently and you explain that she's having the same symptoms as New Kitty.
