Our dog was found a few years ago by my daughter. At that point she was probably about 5 - 6 years old. She has always walked "funny" on her rear
legs, she gets twitches and shakes in them, and she is also pretty lethargic most of the time. Years ago, we had a dog that did have distemper and survived,
and he was never the same, much like this dog, even more lethargic. That poor critter got run over by a neighbor in our yard...probably a blessing, but at the
time we certainly didn't think so. Anyway..back to today's dog, "Puppy". She loves to go on walks, but for the last several months her limit
is about 30 minutes. Now for the last week or so the poor thing has gotten shakier in her legs, and so weak in her back legs that her hips sway to the right or
the left. She still wants to go for a walk, but there's no way I'd take her. She doesn't seem to be in pain, but she does seem sadder than usual.
Does anyone know if this sounds like a distemper survivor? Do the neurological problems get worse with age? I cannot find anything on the internet. I need to
take her to the vet, but I just know they are going to say put her to sleep, and she doesn't seem old enough for that.... Any thoughts? Thanks

I totally understand what you are saying but ,every dog is different, most likely your Puppy
either has arthritis and or heart problems, quite common and treatable ,vets do quite well on helping older animals live longer, so the first thought is not
normally euthanasia ,I have seen old dogs have renewed life with the help of a little medication. Please seek a vet,ask friends to recommend one, Please keep
us updated.
