Posts: 3 Jun 20, 2009 19:59:31 Littermate	Tags : None My sister has come for a three week visit and arrived yesterday. My 2 yo male cat was fine at first but when I called him and his sister for lunch today he wouldn't come out...which is very unusual for him, he is usually first to the bowl. I found him hiding under the lazy boy but I was worried he was stuck so I lifted the chair and he came out. When I put the chair back down he ran underneath again so I got mad and lifted up the chair again and he clawed and hissed at me. He never is aggressive w/me I was shocked! Later I was trying to talk gently with him and offer some treats when my boyfriend came over and lifted the chair again. My cat ran into my room and into a hole in the boxspring of my bed. He is a very big cat and I can see that he can not be very comfortable there. I have petted him through the hole and he has nuzzled my hand but will not even take a sniff of the cat treats he usually gobbles up. I am so worried about him and want to know what I can do to get him to come out and eat and get some water. Thank you

I wouldn't worry with chasing him out of his hiding spots, he'll come out for food/water when he needs it. If for whatever reason he's uneasy and seeking shelter, I'd let him have that security. I'm sure tonight once everyone settles down for the night, he'll come out and about. But only you know your pet, if his behavior continues, and is worrisome, Id run him into your vet for a look over.

Yes, he is skittish even w/me sometimes. I guess I have been doing wrong by trying to get him to come out but I worry that he will get stuck or hurt where he is hiding..he is so big and I'm afraid he will get stuck in the frame or springs. You are probably right that he will come out when all is quiet tonight. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Joanne r...his name is "Bud". His sister's name is "Spider Kitty"...my daughter got to name her.lol He came out around 9:00 last night and was fine...I felt so silly for getting worked up but he is very precious to me. Their mother was a stray & had her litter behind our shed a couple of years ago. I was letting them all be, but would go out and leave food and water for the mom. One afternoon I went out & the kitties we're scampering on the grass by the shed but quickly darted back behind when I approached. The next morning I went out w/some food and found one of the kitties dead on the grass..his head was completely gone!! I was so traumatized and I told my husband that we needed to get those kitties in the house so no more would be killed. We were only able to scare out two. I bottle fed them, and socialized them... I fell very hard for them and couldn't give them up. I fell for my "Bud" especially, as he seemed to be extra affected by the whole situation...he was so frightened but yet clung to me when I would hold him. My oldest daughter who lived in her own apartment, took "Spider Kitty" w/her. A few months later my husband left me and our daughters...my "Bud" was there with that special, furry friend, unconditional love during a very difficult time in my life...he means the world to me! Wow...ask a simple question get somebody's life story..LOL! Sorry, I'm just so happy that my baby's ok and I found this forum as I'm sure I'll be having more questions. Thanks again you guys for the help.

With time everyone settled down. Two of them spend most of the day under the bed and come out to watch tv in the evening. One of the others is at the door when someone arrives to check them out and the other peeks around the corner and runs away. They're all different but we are all a family.
