Posts: 8 Sep 5, 2008 11:17:33 Littermate	Tags : idiopathic chylothorax, chyle, pleural fluid, inflammatory thoracic disease I just now came accros this site. I hope I'm in the right place. I live in Western North Carolina, with my husband, 6 kitties, 4 dogs, and 4 Paso Fino horses. I have a very important health question about my little girl, Lizzie. She has been diagnosed with Idiopathic Chylothorax. Please, I need info! Am I in the right place? Feel free to move this post around. I am not very computer savvy, so guide me thru this! This is a complex and difficult condition to treat. Posts: 8 Sep 9, 2008 13:07:57 Littermate	Thank you all for your concern about Lizzie. She is doing ok right now. Took her in to vet on Saturday, as a precaution, mainly. Xrays showed chest totally clear on left side, pulled off abour 100 cc's on right. Promising . So far, no more taps. May take her for more xrays tomorrow, precaution again. Will tap if needed. She is not in any pain, even discomfort now. She eats, drinks, and functions fine so far. She even brought me her toy for me to throw this morning! So good to see her do that!!! I will keep you updated the best I can. Hopefully, Lizliz will come out of this good, but either way, our dillemma may help someone down the road. Thanks again, to all of you strangers, coming to our rescue!!!!

Posts: 8 Sep 10, 2008 12:14:03 Littermate	Lizzie is still doing well. She will go to vet tomorrow for another xray of her chest. Hopefully there will not be too much fluid built up. This is one weird, and expensive illness, let me tell you. Either way it turns out, I will make her records available to any one that may need them. I hope no one has to go thru this, but maybe we may help some kitty down the line. Sometimes, I wish they could talk.... Thanks for your support! BTW, She is a good ole' US Mutt! DLH, I was told she may have Main Coon in her, because of her very fuzzy feet!

Posts: 8 Sep 15, 2008 14:04:11 Littermate	I want to thank all of you for responding to my post. You are all very encouraging and kind. I am afraid we may have to say goodbye to our baby. We had her chest tapped again this past Friday, but she is already having difficulty breathing again. Only other option would be surgery, will cost a minum of $2000, is very inavsive; her ribcage will hevae to be cracked open, and there iz only a 40% success rate. She is in my lap right now, being strong, but unless a miracle happens in the next few hours, I just can't put her thru this anymore. I have many pets, but never have I been this close to one. She has been my shadow since the day she was born here. She is definately mommas baby. I don't knw how, but i am going to do whats best for her. Thanks again Marleen and Sweet Lizzie

Posts: 8 Sep 17, 2008 08:53:41 Littermate	Thanks to all of you for your support. We had to put Lizzie to sleep Monday night. She peacefully went in my arms. We should get her ashes back today. My heart is in a million pieces. I have been through this many times before, but this one is by far the worst! It is so difficult to do anything at all, without my shadow on my heels... I am greatfull for my other babies, they keep me getting out of bed in the morning. Without that responsibility, I'm afraid I would just let myself slip away. I know time will heal, but this is going to take a looooong time! Sleep well Lizzie, can't wait to see you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Sometimes, at night I think I feel her jump on the bed, I know that's just wishful thinking on my part, but somehow, it's comforting. She will always be with me.
