I'm interested in other folks' experiences with holistic remedies. In an attempt to help a foster cat adjust I'm particularly looking at
www.spiritessence.com and its Bully and Foster care formulas. While I do use herbal remedies for myself and
certainly believe in their efficacy I'm reluctant to spend money on what could turn out to be a bunch of hooey. Could I just pet the cat the lavender oil
that I use when I'm stressed out and get the same effect? What's the deal?
Briefly, the backstory is that I'm in the final stages of deciding whether or not to adopt a six year old, declawed Cornish Rex from a purebred rescue
group. He spent some time in a high kill shelter and is still absolutely freaked out, hissing and occasionally slapping after a full week in foster care. He
has gotten a little better with people but is still hiding (understandable) and shy around other cats. We don't know why he was relinquished but we can
assume it was voluntary because he came with papers. He would be moving into my very quiet home with my boyfriend, myself, and our incredibly bossy, but
lonely, 18 year old Tonkinese. Our biggest concern is, of course, that the Tonk will absolutely torment him, even with planned time in a quiet room, and all
the love and attention we can provide.
Any experiences with holistics, good or bad, would be appreciated, as would any suggestions on helping with adjustment.
Thanks!
Shana

... and so will he. He will always treasure the love,
time, and understanding that you'll be giving him. In the end, he will be eternally grateful and will probably bond very closely with you.
