My 18 year old cat has a semi-hard mass, about the size of a large egg, growing on his rear right leg. If he is standing, the mass hangs down from his stomach near his leg.
He is otherwise happy and semi-healthy (although has a heart irregularity). He eats and drinks pretty well. He still walks and jumps on and off the couch and bed. The growth affects his gait a little bit.
The vet examined the growth by feeling it. He did not take an x-ray or biopsy. He said that because of the cat's age, he did not recommend surgery. He said just keep the cat happy as possible for the time being.
It is disconcerting to see my kitty with this huge growth hanging down, knowing it will just get bigger and bigger, until it probably kills him or makes him so uncomfortable that we will have to get him euthanized.
Do you think the vet should have done more to help him?
Thanks for your responses.
