seriously I am asking this, can a male cat be gay? |

My mom adopted a male cat years ago, he was the spoiled little center of her attention:) about a year ago a friend of ours had a little kitten that looked
just like hers, that they could no longer keep. At the time I was living with her, and I brought the kitten home. We had a couple of outdoor cats that were
strays I adopted, her cat hated them, and would not go near them (both females all spayed) This little cat was a male also, I brought him in thinking he would
not be so upset by a kitten. They got along great (2 males) they cuddled togetther, play together they are best buddies. The new cat has been neutered also,
but after he got neutered and reached maturity, I swear he started getting fatter and fatter, he looks like he is pregnant, and even has lost hair around his
nipples. It is the strangest thing I have ever seen. I know females can have false pregnancy, but can males? I have seen the older cat, umm mating with the
younger male. I thought at that point it was a dominance thing like with dogs, I dont know just wondering if any of you have ever experienced anything like
this.

and Welcome to the forums.Males that jump on each other or on spayed females are showing a
dominance trait and some times just for fun and to start a game I have found in my own fosters. And I had one neutered male that washed and let nurse a litter
of kittens, fur was lost on his tummy area,so yes anything is possible.I have found the bond between neutered males is the strongest I have seen of all the
combinations you can think of,closer then mother and kitten, mother soon wishes the kitten to be grown and gone

Glad you found us and no question is to small or considered anything
less than important here. With that said, I have to agree with everything Joanne said. It's a dominance thing and a way for some cats to play and bond.
I dont' think that homosexual relations enter in the animal world, though I could be wrong, but I can see where you might wonder. Looking forward to
hearing more about all of you. Enjoy the forums!

thanks, I think they are very sweet, and sometimes very funny together. They don't go anywhere in the house without each other. You can barely tell them
apart, the yopunger one is fatter, and has a little white spot on his chest. Otherwise they are al black

They sound adorable. I love it when cats are really bonded and become best friends. It's good for them and fun to watch. Hope you will post some pics
when you get a chance.

It sounds like they're just good friends to me
The behaviors, like everyone said, are quite common. And yes, sometimes neutered males are the best buddies of all. |

Thanks, especially to the person who asked that question. And also for the great answers. I've wanted to know, but wasn't about to ask. lol
I had 2 male cats that was very close, they slept together, and even protected each other. We lost one right before the big pet food recall became public. The Vet. said it was kidney failure. We didn't know about the poison pet food then..The other one passed on about 3 months later. He was never the same after his buddy died. Thanks for the good answers. I'll know the next time. |
