Re: Dog People -vs- Cat People | #1 | ||

in general, cat people don't have a need to control, while dog people like control and predictability
You know, my vets claim the same thing. One is more dog-oriented, the other is more cat-oriented. They often tease each other about who's the control freak and who's the laid-back, let-the-world-go-by attituded one. |

As an equal-opportunity lover of dogs and cats, I live with several of both.
My kinda guy (gal.. whatever)

There are some great quotes in the article, aren't there? I love both that you 2 have picked out. They both stuck in my mind after reading the article.

I have to agree on this. And pardon me for saying so, but I've noticed many true dog lovers are pushy people. For instance when I go to PetSmart and see people walking their dogs they make a huge deal out of the fact that they've taught the dog to sit, stay, lay down, and speak. Often times yelling at the top of their lungs and showing off.
My Sammi Girl fetches, and if she isn't in the mood to do so in front of guests, I quickly get over it. I've also noticed that the dog people in our rescue group are more get up n go people, they get things done much faster and easier than us cat people. We sorta wait for them to do all the tricks LOL ![]() |

Thought and discussion provoking article!! I guess I'd have to say I'm a combination (equal-opportunity) dog/cat person.
Sevie, I'm laughing at your comment about people in rescue and your thinking dog people are more get up and go and get things done kind a people. I tend to agree with that, but I also have to say that (and I say this at the expense of really getting lamblasted by all the "cat" people) from my point of view it's the cat people in rescue who are the control freaks -- and when they don't get their way, it can get pretty catty. & I have a combination of the traits listed in the article but lean more towards the "cat people" qualities.

Cheryl, I'm sure you got the best of both. According to the article, I'm a cat person.

I like dogs, but I don't think I honestly want to own one. I borrow my co-workers dog from time to time, take her for walks and go over and play with her. The majority of my life we've always had cats, when I was 3 I vaguely remember our husky Nikki, and we just lost Buffy after 10 years.
Yes we feline fanatics in the rescue can get catty when we don't get our way or things are not going to plan. We are a moody group of gals...just like a cat ![]() |
