We have currently trapped her in a very, very large pen in the garage. It is our thought to allow her to have the kittens - as I am not big on the idea of
aborting them. We will then take responsibility of the kittens and find them good, responsible homes and have Mama fixed. I guess the kind of advice I'm
looking for is two-fold. Is it cruel to trap her and confine her for the duration of her pregnancy and until the kittens are weaned? Is this the right choice?
The flip side of the advice needed is about the birth. How do I know how close she is to delivering? The pen keeps her separated from the other 2 outside
cats. Is there anything "glaring" that I am not thinking about?
Thanks

To the board.First I thank you for all you have done for these homeless kittys, the changes
you have made for them is wonderful,as a cat rescuer I would abort, simply as I know first hand that each home you place a kitten into is one less home for a
kitten or cat that is already born or will be born no matter what we do.I know this is not always the easy way but it is what I would do,Cats have so many
kittens in a lifetime, the loss is taken very well. Think of how many have come to your door, many doors do not welcome them as you do,sadly letting a cat have
kittens means some one dies somewhere. But bottom line ask the vet that is doing the spay,he/she is the best judge of how far along she is. Now if she is going
to be having the kittens in your garage I see sense in keeping her in a pen for this short time ,gives her a private space from the others and after the birth
she will not go far from her babies any way.It is a way to make sure she gets extra food too.As for the birth well my guess is she has had others,by having her
confined you can keep a watch over her,but they are pretty good at birthing themselves with no problems,we here are always ready with advice,as are vets. Please
keep us updated.Sometimes you have to really hate the people that abandon these cats and leave other kind folk with the hard decisions.

We are obviously an "animal magnet" - I think someone has
spread the word that we are an "animal sanctuary". We even had a little dog dropped off on our front porch about a month ago. We fortunately found
a home for him.

well done and we do so want updates and
pics.
