I just finished watching a documentary called "Sharkwater". I really think it is important for everyone to see this movie and pass it on to family and friends. I never realized that shark finning was such a problem, but this has become a major problem!!! People are killing sharks for their fins and throwing their bodies back into the ocean. It is beyond wasteful, and it is damaging the whole ecosystem. I strongly believe that this issue will not be changed unless people like us are aware, and try to make a difference. We as the human race are destroying this planet. Sharks that have been around for 400 million years are becoming endangered. Please take an hour and a half and watch this movie, and visit the site that I provide to show your support. I am determined to do my part...this is a very cruel and unnecessary act that is being preformed. Here is the site please take a few minutes to sign the petitions and really consider watching the movie!!! We have to make a difference for the future!!!! Folks, FYI, the sharks' fins are dried and sold for use in shark fin soup, a traditional Chinese dish which sells for upwards of US$100 a bowl. Hong Kong is the center of the shark fin industry with 70% of the world's shark fins ending up there. As the Chinese economy improves demand for shark fins is increasing by 5% a year. Abuse occurs when sharks are specifically targeted, their fins removed and their bodies thrown back into the sea. This practice, known as shark finning, is barbaric and wasteful. Often the sharks are still alive, while their fins are hacked off with a sharp knife, leaving them in agony.

I strive to spread awareness of animal suffering that too often goes unseen and unheard. Mainstream education of these topics is vital for positive change to happen and that's what my web site and this message board is about. Animal protection laws will only come about when the voice of the public demands it. Though some people have a bit of knowledge about the condition of animals used for food, entertainment, and research, most of the public has no idea that the government offers no protection to long-suffering, self-aware, social beings. Keep up the good work and don't let the uneducated get you down. You're doing an awesome job!

It says the following: 1 in 280 million Odds of being killed by a shark. About 6 people die in shark attacks annually 26 million Number of sharks killed annually by people I'd love to see similar statistics about coyotes, bears, mountain lions, etc...

In this movie it gives statistics...5 people a year die from shark attacks, 100 people from lions and tigers, more people die a year by pop machines than shark attacks!!!! Also people don't understand that sharks arn't out to kill and eat us. The rare times they do bite humans it is to see what we are not to eat us they don't have hands to feel with so they feel with their teeth. I think they are very misunderstood...movie like Jaws have given them a bad rap!!! Please take the time to watch the movie!!! Be aware...we need to make a difference!!!
