Felix passed away today sometime between noon and 3pm. It didn't look, from what I could tell, like one of those really bad deaths... he was just lying there in a comfortable looking position in my coziest crate with his blankets all around. I hope it was ok.

Time to pull Boris out of the cabinet under the sink and have a talk to him about whether or not he's wanting to stick around.... I don't want to see him get bad as Felix got.

I think the point of dignity has passed already, unfortunately. This poor, poor guy.

He's still alive this morning, but he doesn't look any better. His eyes are open, his forehead is down, he's breathing slowly. His ears move around when I smooch my lips at him (still wishes he could be a friendly guy). He didn't vomit his dinner, at least. Test results back today - severe anemia, liver "problems", and infection. Still don't know how he got into this state. The owners out of the country want to do everything to keep him alive so the housesitter has gotten the sub-q fluids, a/d, and antibiotics to do what he can.

However, he's out of town all day tomorrow due to work and so I'm babysitting Felix until tomorrow night.

He just arrived and he looks awful. Really, really weak, peeing on...

I'll second that - keeping Felix/Silas in my thoughts - you can tell the housesitter you have someone in England wishing him well.

Just talked to the housesitter -

The vet hadn't received the blood panel results yet when he called a couple hours ago! They're closing right about now, so I'm hoping they'll make the call now. Usually those things come back first thing in the morning, I don't know why there's a delay.

He says Felix is still lethargic, not eating. He may bring him to my house tonight for more sub-q fluids.

That would have been hard to hand him over, but I know you had too. I was happy to read that they did take him to the vets. I will be thinking good thougths for Felix. Keep us posted when you can.

Kim, my thoughts and prayers are with Silas/Felix. Hopefully the owners will do what's best for him and stop leaving him outside now. All we can do is educate and hope for the best in situations like this. My heart goes out to that old boy and hopes that however long he has left will be comfortable and peaceful and that, if nothing else, he will remember the feeling of love in your care.
